Equitable Title

Equitable title (in contrast to legal title), is an ownership right given allowing a person to have the power to use and enjoy property. While they do not technically possess ownership of the property, holders of equitable title may use and benefit from the subject property without affecting the ownership rights of the owner of legal title. Beneficiaries to a trust have equitable title to the trust property.
